Rules and Regulations


  1. Resilience Run Singapore (the "Event") is a non-competitive run. Registration is only opened to all Participants who are staff, students and alumni, from NUS faculty and their family members.
  2. No registration fee will be levied.
  3. All registration entries must be made on the Official Registration Form and must be submitted online at Resilience Run Registration by 28 February 2014.
    Note: Registration deadline has been extended to 15 March 2014.
  4. Incomplete or late submission of registration forms will not be accepted. The Organisers will not be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete / inaccurate entry details given by Participants.
  5. By the Participants' voluntary online submission of the Official Registration Form, Participants agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions and the relevant Rules and Regulations of the Event set by the Organisers.
  6. The Organisers reserve the right to limit and refuse entries without providing any reasons.
  7. Participants are to indicate clearly the distance they wish to run in their Official Registration Form submission.
  8. Participants below 18 years of age need to seek parental or guardian consent for participating the event. Minimum age requirement for participation is 7 years old.
  9. The Organisers reserve the right to use any photographs, motion picture, recordings, or any other record of this run and its participants for any legitimate purpose. By registering for the Event, Participants expressly consent for Organisers to use such media related records of the Event for any such purposes. Any audio, visual, or audio-visual recordings that Participants or their Companions make of the Event or any part of it are for personal use only and must not be used for any commercial purpose.
  10. Capitalised terms used in the provisions of the Rules and Regulations but not defined in the Rules and Regulations shall have the meanings as defined in the Terms and Conditions.


  1. Participants are to be ready at the respective stations on time and respect the Organisers' decision on the flag-off time.
  2. All registered Participants who are participating in the run will be issued a Resilience Run t-shirt, complete with numbered bibs. Runners are to wear the Resilience Run t-shirt throughout the run.
  3. Runners are to keep to the designated lanes for their respective runs, and to start/complete their runs at the designated entry/exit points.
  4. No pets or any form of wheel-run objects of transport e.g. in-line skates, prams, push chairs, shoes with rollers, etc. are allowed on the running track.

Wheelchair category

  1. Any use of wheelchair to participate in the Event is subject to the approval of the Organisers at its sole discretion. Participants taking part in the Event under the wheelchair category must use only safe and specifically designed wheelchairs for sports use and protective helmets to be permitted to take part in the wheelchair category. Such wheelchair should be self-propelled and must be without gears or any mechanical, powered or electronic aid or device. Participants may also be subject to further rules and instructions from the Organisers regarding safety aspects of participating under the wheelchair category.

Inclement Weather

  1. In the event of inclement weather, the Event may be delayed or canceled but not postponed to another date.

Medical Advisory

  1. All Participants shall ensure accurate and truthful declaration that they are medically fit to take part in the Event.
  2. Participants shall not consume alcohol, prohibited drugs or stimulants within 24 hours prior of their run. All forms of stimulants or performance enhancement drugs are strictly prohibited.
  3. Participants are advised to be well-rested and well-hydrated.
  4. Should any Participant feel unwell prior to, or at any time during the Event, he/she must stop all physical activities and seek immediate medical attention.
  5. Whilst safety precautions will be taken by the Organisers to organise the Event, Participants and their Companions participate in this Event at their own risk. The Organisers shall not be held responsible or liable whatsoever for any claim, action, injury or death or damage to property, whether personal or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with any persons preparing for or participating in the Event.

General Terms and Conditions

1.1 The following terms used in the Terms and Conditions and the Schedule 1 (Rules and Regulations) have the meanings as defined herein.
  "Companions" means any other person accompanying the Participants at the Event who is not registered as a Participant, including but not limited to family members, children and elderly.
  "Event" means '85th Anniversary Resilience Run' or 'Resilience Run'.
  "Official Registration Form" means the online Event registration form located at the Website.
  "Organisers" means the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Dentistry of the National University of Singapore.
  "Participants" means the named persons registered on the Official Registration Form.
  "Rules and Regulations" means the rules and regulations that apply to the Event as stipulated in Schedule 1, as may be amended or supplemented from time to time by the Organisers.
  "Terms and Conditions" means the terms and conditions of the Event participation as set out in this document.

1.2 The provisions in Schedule 1 (Rules and Regulations) to the Terms and Conditions are incorporated by reference.
2.1 Participants who wish to participate in the Event must register using the online Official Registration Form at the Website.
2.2 Participants agree to provide true, accurate, current and complete information about the Participant contained in the Official Registration Form. The personal information provided by the Participants when signing up for the Event will be stored on a web database. Participants may be contacted regarding the Event by post, email, telephone, sms or any other messaging means.
2.3 By completing the registration voluntarily to participate in the Event, Participants are deemed to have provided express and valid consent to the Organisers to collect, store, analyse, collate, manage and use any information (including any personal and medical information) provided or disclosed by Participants for the purpose of the Event, including without any limitation, contacting the Participant by any means regarding any matters in connection with the Event.
2.4 Participants also expressly agree that the Organisers may release any such information to any third parties for the purpose of managing any emergencies (including medical related incidents).
2.5 Participants further agree that the personal information relating to Participants may be anonymised and the anonymised data may be used by the Organisers in connection with the compilation of statistical information.
2.6 Participants agree that his/her name, image and contact details can be used by the Organisers for the purposes of the promotion and marketing of the Event, retention under a mailing list or database to keep Participants informed about the Event and for future events/activities/services. Participants may however withdraw their consent by notice in writing to the Organisers if he/she would not like the Organisers to use such personal information derived from the registration for purposes under this Clause 2.6.
2.7 Registration for the Event is only confirmed upon the issuance of a unique identification number for the Event. Participation in the Event is personal to each of the Participants. Participants undertake and agree to wear the unique numbered tag assigned to his/her registration, and not to authorize or permit any third party to use their unique numbered tag for the Event. Any breach of this condition shall render the registration void.
2.8 Notwithstanding the registration by any Participants, the Organisers reserve the right to limit or refuse entries to any Participants and the Organisers shall not be obliged to provide any reasons for any such limitations or refusals.
3.1 The Organisers reserve the right to change the time, date and/or venue and format of the Event or to cancel the Event at any time without prior notice to the Participants for circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Organisers. In the event of any cancellation or changes, the Organisers will use reasonable effort to inform the Participants regarding the changes or cancellation as soon as practicable.
3.2 The Participants agree to abide by the Rules and Regulations that form an integral part of the Terms and Conditions and any other reasonable instructions in connection with the Event that may be issued by the Organisers from time to time.
3.3 In the event of cancellation of the Event, the Organisers have no responsibility for any costs or expenses incurred as a result of cancellation including any travel or accommodation costs.
4.1 By registering using the Official Registration Form at the Website, Participants agree to abide and be bound by the Terms and Conditions.
4.2 The Participant acknowledges and agrees that participation in and preparing for the Event involves inherent risks of personal injury (including death) and loss of or damage to property. By registering using the Official Registration Form at the Website, Participant confirms that they have consulted with their doctors or medical specialists that they are healthy and fit to participate in the Event, and they are aware of the inherent risks involved and voluntarily assume these risks. Participants warrant that they will be sufficiently fit and healthy to participate in the Event unaided and will cease immediately any physical activities and seek medical assistance should they feel unwell at any time during the Event.
4.3 The Participants are advised to obtain any insurance as may be necessary to cover any risks of them participating in the Event.
4.4 The Organisers shall take all reasonable steps to assess the safety aspects of the Event (including the location and route) and implement reasonable safety precautions prior to the commencement of the Event. In the event of any medical emergencies occurring during the Event, Participants hereby authorize the medical or first aid personnel or Volunteers at the Event to administer first aid or any medical treatment to Participants/Companions or to transport Participants/Companions in the event of any illness, accident or injury suffered by him/her during the Event. Participants agree to procure the same authorisation described herein from their Companions on or before the registration of the Event for the purposes of this Clause.
4.5 The Participants acknowledge and agree, and shall procure that their Companions agree, that the Organisers shall not be responsible under contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise for any direct, indirect, special or consequential damages or losses the Participants and/or their Companions may suffer arising out of or in connection with the Participants and/or their Companions taking part in the Event in any manner or in any capacity, subject always to Clause 4.6 below. The Participants agree to fully indemnify and keep the Organisers fully indemnified from and against all liabilities, claims, actions, proceedings, loss, damage, costs or expenses suffered or incurred by the Participants and/or their Companions.
4.6 Notwithstanding Clause 4.5, nothing in the Terms and Conditions shall affect the Organisers' liability to the extent that any liability cannot be excluded or limited by law.
5.1 If any term or provision of the Terms and Conditions is held to be illegal or unenforceable, such term or provision shall be deemed to be deleted from the Terms and Conditions and the validity or enforceability of the remainder of the Terms and Conditions shall remain in full force and effect.
5.2 The Terms and Conditions are made in Singapore and shall be subject to, governed by and interpreted in accordance with Singapore laws for every purpose and any disputes or claims arising shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore Courts.
5.3 In the event that there is a conflict or inconsistency between any provision contained in the Terms and Conditions and any provision contained in the Rules and Regulations, the Terms and Conditions prevail to the extent of the conflict or inconsistency.
5.4 The Terms and Conditions do not create, confer or purport to confer any benefit or right enforceable by any person not party to it.

In consideration of the acceptance of my registration, I agree to participate in the Resilience Run 2014 my own risk and I will not make any claims against National University of Singapore, the Organisers, its officials, employees or agents for any claim, damage or loss, whether directly or indirectly caused by or arising out of or in connection with any injury sustained or death occurring as a result of my participation in the Resilience Run 2014, during or after the event.
